GOOD START FOR ACADEMY
EDINBURGH opened their WSRA National Development League campaign with a hard-fought 48-42 win over Middlesbrough at Armadale.
The Tigers never fell more than six points down and required a 5-1 from the last race to level the scores and force a Super Heat.
But the visitors’ Jamie Halder crashed out, suffering a rib injury, with top scorer Dayle Wood leading the Monarchs Academy to a 4-2 in the re-run.
Wood scored 14 for the hosts with Connor Coles adding 11, whilst Tom Spencer was top scorer for Middlesbrough on 9+1.
Edinburgh boss Scott Wilson said: “It was a bit nip and tuck as I thought it would be. We made a good start and got in front, then Middlesbrough pulled it back and there was a run of 3-3s but I always felt we’d be stronger towards the end.
“It’s the first meeting, you just want to get a win and we’ve given ourselves a wee lead to take down to Middlesbrough later in the season.”
