DOUBLE DELIGHT FOR ACADEMY

EDINBURGH completed an impressive WSRA National Development League double over Middlesbrough with a 54-36 win at the ECCO Arena on Saturday.

The Monarchs Academy were almost as dominant as they had been on their home circuit 24 hours earlier, with Dayle Wood (14+2) and newcomer Ben Whalley (12+4) both scoring paid-16 from six rides, whilst No.1 Jordy Loftus added 13 from five, as the visitors recorded five 5-1s on the night.

The Tigers managed five race wins, four of which came from Ace Pijper who was unbeaten with 12 points but did not take part in Heat 15, and the other from reserve Charlie Southwick.

Edinburgh boss Scott Wilson said: “We picked up right where we left off last night, the team were fantastic again.

“I was pleased with the performance on track, of course, but equally as pleasing was the team effort off track. Already at this early stage there’s a fantastic spirit among the team, everyone wants to help each other out.

“A very satisfying first weekend of our season and well done to all of the team for two fantastic results and performances.”
