CHARGERS ALL POSITIVE

OXFORD raced to an emphatic 58-32 win at Belle Vue on Sunday to go clear at the top of the WSRA National Development League.

The Colts were badly hampered when No.1 Will Cairns crashed out of the meeting in Heat 1, suffering a hand injury, and the Chargers took full advantage to run up an impressive scoreline.

Darryl Ritchings led the way for the visitors with 12+2 and Jody Scott had four wins as he collected 12, with Jacob Clouting and Senna Summer both on 9+2.

Colts captain Freddy Hodder won his first four outings and ended with 14 from six rides, and the result was the first time an Oxford team had ever won at the National Speedway Stadium.

Clouting said: “To come away and get a good victory, it’s looking good for us and hopefully we can keep it going and win another league title with the Chargers.

“We’ve got a great team and everyone is cracking on and riding well.”

The meeting was followed by the second round of the British Youth Championship at 125cc level, with Lewis Hague taking the honours in the main class and Callum Hague the Support class.
