ACADEMY STILL IN THE HUNT
EDINBURGH kept their hopes alive in the WSRA National Development League with a 51-39 win over the Steelers at Armadale.
The Monarchs Academy can still overhaul the top two of Oxford and Leicester if they win their last three matches, with both of those two clubs still to visit the Scottish outfit.
Reserve Jordy Loftus piled up 18+1 from seven rides for the home side, who only led by two points after Heat 10 against the Steelers before pulling clear in the closing stages.
Connor Coles added 11+3 tor the home side, whilst Ben Morley dominated the visitors’ scoring with five race wins in his 18-point haul.
Edinburgh manager Scott Wilson said: “This felt like a night when we just needed to get the job done and, after it got a little close for comfort at points, we got over the line with a bit to spare.
“I thought Connor was excellent. It was his type of track and he attacked it well. Jordy also ran up a huge score from reserve, he was very, very impressive and is great to have in the pits. His enthusiasm and positivity are infectious!
“A special mention also to Liam Greens who showed real bravery to pass a few more experienced opponents early on – he should be pleased with his first NDL appearance.”
