TIGERS HIT STARS FOR 60
SHEFFIELD ran up the biggest Sports Insure Premiership score of the season with a 60-30 thumping of King’s Lynn at Owlerton.
Tigers No.1 Jack Holder raced to a four-ride 12-point maximum whilst Adam Ellis (11+1) recorded double figures for the first time this year, only being denied a paid maximum in Heat 15.
Skipper Kyle Howarth added 10+2 for the home side, who had all but two of the race wins, with Rising Star Dan Gilkes collecting an impressive 7+2.
Nicolai Klindt top-scored for the Stars with eight, but Josh Pickering was withdrawn after two rides of his comeback, and Sheffield’s David Bellego was also unable to complete the meeting after a collision with King’s Lynn Ryan Douglas in Heat 6.
Sheffield manager Simon Stead said: “It was unfortunate for David who showed some real promise in his first two rides but when you look down the scorechart, all of our lads had a really good night.
“I don’t think King’s Lynn did anything wrong in particular, I just think we were very good.
“It was a dominant home display and everything I could’ve asked for.”
Stars boss Alex Brady said: “We didn’t perform as well as we should’ve done, we were beaten by by far the better side and it’s difficult to take too many positives from that, it was just a terrible night really.
“We need a lift and we need it quickly. Hopefully over the coming few days we’ll get the lift that we need, both on and off the track, with some positive news because I’m not prepared to let the season peter out.”
