PREVIEW: SHEFFIELD v PETERBOROUGH (Sports Insure Prem)

SHEFFIELD bid to bounce back from a home defeat on their last Owlerton outing when they host Peterborough tonight (Monday).

The Tigers slipped to a shock loss against Leicester on their own track, meaning they are currently level with Ipswich in the race for fourth place, albeit with two matches in hand.

Grand Prix star Jack Holder reverts to the No.1 position for the hosts under the July averages, with Tobiasz Musielak at No.5.

Boss Simon Stead said: “Everyone was hurting after that home defeat against Leicester but as I said at the time, I’d like the boys to use that as a mode of motivation, if you like, to kick on to be better and stronger.

“Just because Peterborough are bottom of the table doesn’t mean they’re a bad team, in fact I think they’ve got a solid look about them, they’ve just underperformed so far.

“But Monday needs to be about us, we need a much improved performance and we need to give it everything we’ve got to make sure we get the two league points because they will be important in terms of the league table.”

The Panthers switch Richie Worrall and Ben Cook in their riding order, with the duo having taken them to runners-up position in the Premiership Pairs last week.

Worrall was outstanding in that meeting and admitted it comes as a major boost ahead of a busy month for the Panthers.

He said: “I needed that, because the last time I was on the bike was at Peterborough when I had two lasts and a second, and I had a ride taken off me, so it’s pretty tough in your head.

“My confidence was a bit low but I woke up on Thursday, had my Weetabix, did my workout and I felt good for it.

“Every time I was on that start-line I told myself, ‘I am the man’ and then I let the clutch go and I was the man! I was performing, and I was out front doing what I needed to do.”

SHEFFIELD: Jack Holder, Lewis Kerr, Adam Ellis, Josh Pickering, Tobiasz Musielak, Kyle Howarth, Dan Gilkes.
PETERBOROUGH: Niels-Kristian Iversen, Richie Worrall, Benjamin Basso, Ben Cook, Vadim Tarasenko, Hans Andersen, Jordan Jenkins.
