PREVIEW: SHEFFIELD v LEICESTER (Sports Insure Prem)

TAI Woffinden makes his home debut for Sheffield tonight (Thursday) in a vital Sports Insure Premiership clash with Leicester at Owlerton.

The Tigers are outside the play-off places albeit with matches in hand, with Ipswich immediately above them also racing at home tonight.

Woffinden hit double figures at Belle Vue on Monday and his first home appearance comes on the occasion of his 33rd birthday.

He said: “I used to go to Sheffield as a kid and it will probably ignite all those memories from when I was younger.

“I’ve also got a lot of connections there; Neil Machin was super close to our family, he’s my Godfather, and he used to run Sheffield for such a long time.

“Then the Bates’ took over so I know them super-well as well, and I lived in Sheffield for two or three years as well.

“So it’s going to be interesting to get back there and I’m looking forward to getting out there and going racing.”

Both sides make changes in their Rising Star berths with Ace Pijper coming in for the Tigers and Jason Edwards for the Lions, as Dan Gilkes and Drew Kemp are away representing GB at Friday’s SON2 in Latvia.

Leicester boss Stewart Dickson said: “I felt we gave Wolverhampton a good go on Monday, and on another night we could have won it – although when I saw the crash, I was more relieved to see Max (Fricke) walk away rather than the actual result.

“We go on to Sheffield now and this is the first of the Round 2 matches against them, and it’s a case of doing as well as we can.

“Whether we can win again is open for debate, but we’ll certainly be going there in a confident mood.”

SHEFFIELD: Tobiasz Musielak, Kyle Howarth, Adam Ellis, Josh Pickering, Tai Woffinden, Lewis Kerr, Ace Pijper.
LEICESTER: Max Fricke, Justin Sedgmen, Richie Worrall, Craig Cook, Richard Lawson, Jake Allen, Jason Edwards.
