POSTPONED: PETERBOROUGH v WOLVERHAMPTON (Sports Insure Prem)

THURSDAY’S match at the East of England Arena between Peterborough and Wolverhampton has been postponed due to a poor weather forecast. It has been provisionally re-arranged for Monday September 11.

PETERBOROUGH look to turn the tables on Wolverhampton when the sides meet at the East of England Arena tonight (Thursday).

On their previous visit to Alwalton in the Sports Insure Premiership, Wolves raced to a big away victory as they racked up 56 points, and they have since confirmed their place in the top four.

But the Panthers have won their last two home matches following several changes, and the fixture is also the final clash of 2023 between two clubs who face uncertain futures due to stadium issues.

Panthers boss Rob Lyon said: “Wolves are already through to the play-offs, but it’s important for us to get another win on the board.

“It was a real shame to hear the news about Wolves earlier in the week, and although it’s been on the cards for a while you don’t like to lose any tracks. Let’s just hope both clubs can find a new home at some point in the near future.

“We’ve just got to concentrate on winning the rest of our meetings, that’s all I can concentrate on really.”
Wolves skipper Sam Masters said: “It’s obviously really sad with the news that’s come out, so if we can finish this season by winning the league, that would be unreal.

“We won pretty easily at Peterborough not so long back and Dougy (Ryan Douglas) in particular was on fire that night.

“They’ve made a few changes since then though and they’ve had a few good results at home but let’s hope we can go there and keep up our good form.”

PETERBOROUGH: Artem Laguta, Chris Harris, Vadim Tarasenko, Benjamin Basso, Niels-Kristian Iversen, Ben Cook, Jordan Jenkins.
WOLVERHAMPTON: Sam Masters, Steve Worrall, Luke Becker, Rory Schlein, Ryan Douglas, Zach Cook, Leon Flint.
