PREVIEW: PETERBOROUGH v IPSWICH (Sports Insure Prem)
CHRIS Harris has immediately been appointed Peterborough captain as he makes his return for the club against Ipswich tonight (Monday).
The former Panthers title-winner has switched back to the East of England Arena after leaving Leicester, and starts at No.1 for the clash with the Witches, with former skipper Richie Worrall having joined the Lions.
Manager Rob Lyon said: “It was a move that suited both parties, and both riders have agreed to the switch, and naturally we’re more than happy to have Bomber back and hopefully it will make a difference for us.
“We didn’t want to lose him in the first place last winter but he’s back now, and he asked straight away to be captain – and in all honesty he’s the natural choice.
“He knows the club, he knows all the people and whilst it’s a bit late in the day we’re delighted to have him back.”
It’s also a big meeting for Ipswich, who are chasing down the Sports Insure Premiership play-off places after recent away wins at Leicester and King’s Lynn.
Manager Ritchie Hawkins said: “I think we will need to improve on our performance against King’s Lynn to win there, but we go there confident and in a good run of form, looking to get another away victory and three more points.
“When you see their team on paper, I don’t think it is a bad line-up to be honest and they are capable. We are going to need to perform otherwise we will lose and that will end any faint hopes of the play-offs.
“We need to be professional and go there and do the job and if we perform to our capabilities, we will win the meeting, but if we let that slip then we certainly won’t.”
The home side have a doubt over Vadim Tarasenko for family reasons.
