PREVIEW: LEICESTER v IPSWICH (Sports Insure Prem)
LEICESTER have the chance to gain ground on Sports Insure Premiership leaders Belle Vue when they host Ipswich in tonight’s (Monday) live televised fixture.
With the Aces’ home clash with Sheffield an early victim of the weather, the Lions can close the gap at the top to six points if they make club history by recording a ninth straight victory.
The meeting also marks the start of a make-or-break run for the Witches, who race three times away from home over an eight-day spell and need points on the road to put pressure on the top four.
Both sides declare full one-to-sevens with Ipswich’s Rising Star Dan Thompson returning to the club who released him earlier in the season.
Leicester boss Stewart Dickson said: “I expect a tough meeting. We’ve had tough meetings against Ipswich the whole way through the season, and we will need to be on the sort of form we’ve been on for the last five or six home meetings to get the result we require.
“We know the obvious threat which comes from their two big hitters, but this will be the third time Keynan Rew has come to our track, and I’m pretty sure Dan will have a point to prove as well.
“We certainly need to be on our best performance to get the win and keep us up near the top of the league, and then we can look forward to another big one on Thursday.”
Witches manager Ritchie Hawkins said: “We have got a run of three away meetings coming up and we need to start that run off with a win at Leicester.
“We need three wins from the three away meetings to put pressure on the teams in the play-off race. Hopefully that would put pressure on them to slip up and make a mistake.
“If we don’t win the away meetings, we will still be miles behind and it will be easy for them, so we need to make sure we perform well away from home and put the pressure on.”
LEICESTER: Max Fricke, Justin Sedgmen, Troy Batchelor, Chris Harris, Richard Lawson, Jake Allen, Drew Kemp.
