PREVIEW: KING’S LYNN v SHEFFIELD (SPORTS INSURE PREM)
2021 WORLD Champion Artem Laguta makes his Sports Insure Premiership debut tonight (Thursday) as King’s Lynn take on Sheffield.
The Stars have pulled off one of the biggest signings in recent years as they look to move into contention for the play-offs, and there is huge interest in Laguta’s arrival.
Kye Thomson also debuts for the Adrian Flux Arena side at reserve, whilst Nick Morris guests for Nicolai Klindt who is racing in Poland.
Meanwhile the Tigers, who have a sensational record at the Norfolk venue, operate rider replacement for David Bellego who is out with concussion. Tobiasz Musielak takes over at No.1 after a superb start to the season for the Pole.
Stars boss Alex Brady said: “The first target is to get Artem settled in well and with a good home win for us, and anything beyond that would be a real bonus.
“Artem going out in Heat 1 is going to be a sight that a lot of people want to see, and I’m sure there will be a big crowd and lots of noise – it’s a shot in the arm not just for King’s Lynn but for British Speedway in general.
“The King’s Lynn fans have been crying out for a genuine No.1 for a long time, and I feel that we’ve managed to deliver that.
“I think this change turns us from a team which may potentially have just gate-crashed the play-offs into a team that’s got a real, genuine chance of making it – and once you get there, anything can happen!”
Sheffield manager Simon Stead said: “We’re confident but we never take anything for granted. I know we’ve already had a good result there this season, but King’s Lynn is a tough place to go to as an away team.
“We just need to carry on where we left off last Thursday though, stay dominant and hopefully we can put another win on the board.”
KING’S LYNN: Artem Laguta, Thomas Jorgensen, Frederik Jakobsen, Nick Morris (G), Michael Palm Toft, Kye Thomson, Jason Edwards.
SHEFFIELD: Tobiasz Musielak, Lewis Kerr, Adam Ellis, David Bellego R/R, Jack Holder, Kyle Howarth, Dan Gilkes.
