PREVIEW: KING’S LYNN v SHEFFIELD (Sports Insure Prem)
KING’S Lynn are seeking to break one of the sport’s least enviable statistics when they host Sheffield at the Adrian Flux Arena tonight (Thursday).
The Tigers are unbeaten in all 14 top-flight meetings with the Stars since they stepped up to the Sports Insure Premiership in 2021, and they have enjoyed a run of big wins in Norfolk.
Recently appointed Lynn boss David Hoggart has stressed the need for a fast start, as the Stars welcome back Artem Laguta at No.1, whilst Ben Barker guests for the injured Michael Palm Toft.
Hoggart said: “We know that Sheffield are going to be a huge challenge. They absolutely romped away with it the last time they came here, so we anticipate a tough meeting.
“Sheffield have got a team of big-track specialists, and they will relish the thought of coming to King’s Lynn on Thursday, so we’ve got a real challenge on our hands.
“But we’ve got to go for every single point. We’ve got to be thinking no last places, and when you’re at home you’ve got to think about hitting the opposition early, right from the start of the meeting, and maximising those opportunities.”
Sheffield are at full strength – including former Stars captain Josh Pickering, who made a surprise mid-season move to Owlerton after returning from injury.
Pickering said: “It’s no different for me. King’s Lynn were good to me while I was there and I wish them all the best.
“I’m committed to Sheffield now though, and I’ve just got to focus on what I’m doing right now and I’m happy with where I am.”
KING’S LYNN: Artem Laguta, Kye Thomson, Ben Barker, Thomas Jorgensen, Nicolai Klindt, Simon Lambert, Anders Rowe.
SHEFFIELD: Jack Holder, Lewis Kerr, Adam Ellis, Josh Pickering, Tobiasz Musielak, Kyle Howarth, Dan Gilkes.
