KING CHASING CUP GLORY

IPSWICH skipper Danny King has called for an all-round effort both on and off the track as the Witches bid for their first major team trophy in 25 years.

The Foxhall side head into their home leg of the Premiership KO Cup Final against Sheffield on Thursday facing a six-point deficit from Monday’s opener at Owlerton.

King said: “We must be confident, but we also know it is not going to be easy.

“There are 15 races, things may swing one way, then the next. But we are riding well, and we must keep focused on the job in hand.

“Our fans have been superb all season, and they can play a huge part on Thursday.

“The riders notice the cheers and support. Some of the noise we have had at Foxhall this season has been fantastic. I hope they come out in their numbers again and be our extra man.”
