EDWARDS IN FOR TIGERS

SHEFFIELD have confirmed Jason Edwards will take their Rising Star berth for the remainder of the season.

Edwards will ride for the Tigers as a guest at Leicester on Saturday before being officially declared into their team in time for next week’s schedule.

He takes the place of the unfortunate Dan Gilkes, who has confirmed he will not race again in 2023 following a further x-ray of his wrist injury which revealed a broken scaphoid after his crash at Peterborough on Monday.

Gilkes said: “I was really aiming to get back before the end of the season, but the last few days have been so tough.

“I knew something was wrong so sought further advice from Dr Alistair Jepson, who was able to fit me in very quickly and confirmed the full extent of my injuries.

“I am gutted as I had really hoped to be back for the play-offs.”
