ACES GO CLEAR
BELLE VUE are six points clear at the top of the Sports Insure Premiership – but were made to fight hard for a 47-43 win over a battling King’s Lynn side.
Two early 5-1s for the Aces proved important as the Stars achieved a notable feat in taking 5-1s of their own in Heats 13 and 15, but just fell short of a shock result.
Jaimon Lidsey won his first four rides for the home side to finish on 12 points, with Dan Bewley on 9+1, whilst Danish duo Nicolai Klindt (12) and Michael Palm Toft (11+2) impressed for the Stars whilst Artem Laguta bounced back from failing to score in his first ride with eight points from his next three.
Aces star Tom Brennan (8+1) said: “King’s Lynn really gave it to us tonight! There was a lot of speculation about how the result would look tonight and I’ll admit I never thought it’d get that close.
“On paper, though, they are a good team and since bringing Laguta in it has made them much stronger, but we are more than a match for them as we showed on track.
“We were a bit concerned with how the weather was before tapes up and the track staff did a fantastic job, and we not only got the meeting on but it was a fantastic meeting to boot.
Klindt said: “I said to the boys beforehand that I felt we had a chance, but everyone needed to click.
“Unfortunately Fred (Jakobsen) had bike issues again tonight and he can do much better, but only losing by four here to the champions is not a bad result.”
