WITCHES MARCH ON AT TOP

IPSWICH moved five points clear at the top of the ROWE Motor Oil Premiership table with an emphatic 60-30 home victory over Birmingham.

The Witches hit the 60-point mark for the third time in three home matches in all competitions as they continued their 100 per cent record overall in 2025.

They recorded seven 5-1s in the meeting with Jason Doyle scoring 11+1, as he went unbeaten with the exception of a crash in Heat 6. Skipper Danny King added 10+1 and Tom Brennan (10) won his first three races.

Danish star Michael Jepsen Jensen (11) impressed for the Brummies including wins in his first two races, and their 30-point total was the highest of any team visiting Foxhall so far this year.

Ipswich boss Ritchie Hawkins said: “All seven riders have won a race again and lots of 5-1s! “Another very solid team performance and the pleasing thing is we know we can still go better.

“We’re enjoying it while we can but there are going to be tougher tests to come. We had a couple of falls but nothing that should be lasting. A couple of sore bodies in the morning but I’m sure the boys will be back in no time from them.”

Birmingham manager Chris Adams said: “It was a tough old night. We were struggling with a few sicknesses in the camp and that didn’t help really.

“Ipswich are a strong team and they’d already had some big wins, so we can’t have any complaints

“I was really pleased to see Michael carry on doing what he has been doing the last few meetings, I thought he rode really well. Jonas (Jeppesen) battled all night long and had a pretty steady night.”
