TIGERS RUN RIOT AT BRUM

SHEFFIELD had two unbeaten riders in an emphatic 59-31 ROWE Motor Oil Premiership away win at bottom club Birmingham on Monday.

Jack Holder and Rising Star Leon Flint, the latter against his former club, both scored 12-point maximums for the Tigers, and skipper Josh Pickering also won four races as he ended with 14 from five rides.

That meant there were slim pickings for the Brummies, whose only two victories on a torrid night came from Rew (7) and Jonas Jeppesen.

Flint said: “Watching all the Birmingham boys have their head in their hands, thinking what to do, that was exactly what I was doing last year!

“I’m a firm believer that when the track is like that, it’s always easier as an away rider to just get cracked on and try and find something that’s working.

“But we were just making starts tonight and riding the right lines so I was a happy camper.

“We obviously had new team changes; yes we were missing ‘Reggie’ (Jye Etheridge) but hopefully we can crack on now and get gelled together ready for the play-offs.”

Brummies star Paco Castagna said: “I think we were pretty much embarrassing all night long.

“We just couldn’t start, we couldn’t gate and fair play to them for finding good set-ups and riding the track better than us.

“It’s just a shame because we know we don’t have much time left and we want to finish on a high – it was just one of those nights I guess.”
