STARS CELEBRATE AWAY JOY
KING’S Lynn raced to their first away win in nearly two years as they edged a dramatic contest 47-43 at Birmingham.
The Stars picked their guests well with Rohan Tungate (14+1) completing a paid maximum in the last-heat decider, which ended in a crash between the Brummies’ Tom Brennan and the visitors’ other guest Adam Ellis when they were battling for third place.
Brennan was adjudged the cause with the visitors being awarded a 4-2 to confirm their victory, with the aggregate point also helping take them off the foot of the ROWE Motor Oil Premiership table.
Ellis backed up Tungate with 10+1 whilst Fredrik Lindgren scored 10 on his home debut for the Brummies, including two race wins.
Stars boss Rob Lyon said: “I wouldn’t say it’s a pivotal moment but an important result because had Birmingham turned the tables the other way, there would’ve been a bit of a gap between us.
“We got all three points which is great, and it was a great team performance again.
“Everyone is doing their job pretty much, and it makes a big difference
Birmingham CEO Nigel Tolley said: “I was not expecting this result at all and I’m very frustrated.
“I don’t think Heat 15 should’ve gone ahead; there was movement at the tapes, they did gain an advantage from that, and I think the red lights should’ve come on.
“There are a lot of things I could say in hindsight though; I’m not a happy man but we shall carry on fighting.”
