PREVIEW: SHEFFIELD v KING’S LYNN (ROWE MOTOR OIL PREM)

SHEFFIELD have the chance to create some breathing space inside the ROWE Motor Oil Premiership’s top four when they host King’s Lynn tonight (Thursday).

The Tigers have raced fewer meetings than anyone else in the top-flight to date – yet they still currently occupy one of the play-off

positions at this stage.

Thursday’s opponents sit two points behind Sheffield in the standings but have raced two fixtures more, and Lynn are under pressure to pick up points on the road.

The Stars were held to a 45-45 draw at home to Northampton on Monday, having already lost twice at the Adrian Flux Arena, but they do take an eight-point advantage to Owlerton for the aggregate point.

Sheffield remain without Jack Holder following his Wroclaw GP injuries and they operate rider replacement at No.1, whilst Jake Mulford guests for Jye Etheridge at reserve as the Australian is ruled out after a crash at Berwick last weekend.

Sheffield manager Simon Stead said: “If we could get three more points on Thursday then that would give us a nice bit of breathing space ahead of them – and we’ve still got a couple of meetings in hand on them as well.

“One thing’s for sure though, King’s Lynn will not be an easy fixture for us. I know their away record hasn’t been great this year, and I know they were disappointed to drop points at home to Northampton on Monday, but look at the team they’ve got.

“If that King’s Lynn team actually all clicked on the same night, they could do damage to anyone.”
Stars boss Rob Lyon said: “Dropping points at home does mean we’re going to need some results in our away matches.

“I do feel there are options coming up with tracks we haven’t been to at all this season. We’ve only been to Ipswich and Belle Vue so far in the league.

“Sheffield will obviously be tough, but we do have a chance to get something out of it, especially with the aggregate point being up for grabs.”
