PREVIEW: LEICESTER v SHEFIELD (ROWE Motor Oil Prem)
LEICESTER manager Stewart Dickson insists his riders will be ready for the challenge of facing champions Sheffield in the ROWE Motor Oil Premiership tonight (Thursday).
The Lions slipped to an 18-point defeat at Belle Vue on Monday and are yet to hit top form this season, with a big test on the way against the Tigers.
Simon Stead’s team have yet to race at home in 2024 but already have points on the board from a Super Heat win at Birmingham last month, and they also went close at Oxford.
Dickson said: “Every meeting is important, but we know Sheffield are a top team and they will be coming to get something, they will see us as being a bit wounded at the moment.
“That’s what I’d be doing if I was them, but our guys will be pumped up for Thursday, we will be ready for it. Thursday is a different day.
“I expect to see a response from my riders, they’ll get a response from me in my team-talk and fingers crossed we’ll be all guns blazing and it should be a cracker.”
Stead said: “We all know my thoughts on the Sheffield team by now, but Leicester have got a good solid look about them and it will be a tough one.
“For us it will be good to get back together as a team because it’s been such a stop-start beginning to the season, and the fact we haven’t been able to get a home meeting on yet is disappointing.
“But there are league points on the line at Leicester on Thursday and hopefully we can go there, dig deep and try and come away with a result that goes in our favour.”
LEICESTER: Max Fricke, Richard Lawson, Sam Masters, Luke Becker, Ryan Douglas, Drew Kemp, Joe Thompson.
SHEFFIELD: Jack Holder, Kyle Howarth, Chris Holder, Josh Pickering, Tai Woffinden, Jason Edwards, Dan Gilkes.
