PREVIEW: KING’S LYNN v SHEFFIELD (PREM KO CUP S/F)

KING’S Lynn call on two of their former riders for the first leg of their Premiership KO Cup semi-final against Sheffield tonight (Thursday).

Richard Lawson and Simon Lambert both come in for the Stars at the Adrian Flux Arena with Tobiasz Musielak and Michael Palm Toft on the sidelines.

The hosts are seeking a win on their own circuit although the Tigers have been a bogey side in recent years, and the visitors travel at full strength with Josh Pickering back in the side after shoulder trouble.

Stars operations manager Dale Allitt said: “We’d like to thank Richard and Simon for standing in, and we know how well they can both go here.

“As we said during the winter, Simon was unfortunate not to get a place with us this season given what he contributed last year, and I’m sure the supporters will welcome him back.

“We know Sheffield are a strong team with a good record here, but we need to focus on doing our jobs, and hopefully we can come away with a lead to take up there for the second leg.”

Pickering said: “It has been a tough few weeks to be honest, sitting on the sidelines and watching the boys have all the fun!

“But I’m coming back now, I’m 100 per cent confident that my shoulder is going to be able to withhold all the movements and everything so I’m very much looking forward to get back racing.

“I’m more than confident we can go there and get the result we require. It’s a track I know well, I know Tai (Woffinden) always loves racing at King’s Lynn, Jack (Holder) was unbeaten there last year – that’s just some of us and I think that shows that as a team, we’ll be ready and raring to go.”

KING’S LYNN: Richard Lawson, Patryk Wojdylo, Niels-Kristian Iversen, Benjamin Basso, Nicolai Klindt, Simon Lambert, Anders Rowe.
SHEFFIELD: Jack Holder, Kyle Howarth, Chris Holder, Josh Pickering, Tai Woffinden, Jason Edwards, Dan Gilkes.
SCB Referee: Mick Bates
