PREVIEW: KING’S LYNN v BELLE VUE (ROWE MOTOR OIL PREM)
KING’S Lynn host play-off qualifiers Belle Vue in the ROWE Motor Oil Premiership tonight (Thursday) as they look to continue a strong end to the season.
The Stars were emphatic winners at Oxford on Bank Holiday Monday, and they now complete their campaign at the Adrian Flux Arena against the Aces and then Sheffield, who visit next Monday.
Belle Vue are currently third in the table but this is their final regular league fixture, and they require a win to have any chance of finishing higher – although manager Mark Lemon has stressed form rather than position is all-important.
Both sides are at full strength with King’s Lynn including Ben Cook at reserve against his former club, with the Australian now clocking up the points after his lengthy wrist injury.
Cook said: “It’s been a strange old season for me this year, but I’m starting to feel a bit more comfortable on the bike again, and I’m having some fun.
“The season is coming to an end which is a shame, and it could have been a good year with the boys but unfortunately the injury gremlin struck again – but that’s speedway sometimes.
“I was pretty busy with the injury, doing a lot of rehab and physio, and that was its own job itself! But now it’s nice to be back riding.”
Lemon said: “We need another solid performance. We haven’t peaked as a team. The play-offs are just about peaking at the right time. I think we have more in the tank.
“Where we finish in the table doesn’t truly matter. It’s just getting our form right when the semi-finals arrive.”
