PREVIEW: IPSWICH v NORTHAMPTON (PREM KOC)

IPSWICH have the opportunity to book their place in the Premiership KO Cup Final if they defeat newcomers Northampton at Foxhall tonight (Thursday).

The Witches, who last won the competition in 2023, have a perfect record so far in the southern group with home and away wins over King’s Lynn to their name.

One more victory will make them uncatchable, and they are at full strength for the clash with the Foxes who opened their season with a promising performance at the Adrian Flux Arena on Monday.
The visitors are set to again be without the injured Niels-Kristian Iversen, and will cover his absence with the rider replacement facility.

Witches skipper Danny King said: “The season starts with the Knockout Cup, so your first target is to get to that Final.

“If we can do that in the first few weeks of the season, that’s a great start for the club. It’ll settle the nerves and prove to everyone we are a team that can compete.”

Foxes co-promoter Paul Hunsdon said: “Ipswich are a very compact side and we’re going to have to ride exceptionally well to get something there.

“But you never know – the six guys who we had at King’s Lynn on Monday are all really focused, and of course we’ve got Niels to come back in the near future too, which will only strengthen us.”
