PREVIEW: IPSWICH v BELLE VUE (ROWE MOTOR OIL PREM)
IPSWICH manager Paul Hurry is targeting a big response when the Witches host Belle Vue in the ROWE Motor Oil Premiership at Foxhall tonight (Thursday).
The Aces were emphatic 62-28 winners when the sides met in Manchester on Monday, although the picture is somewhat different heading into the next clash in Suffolk.
The aggregate point position sees the visitors ahead by 12 points as this is the reverse Round 1 fixture from a previous meeting at the National Speedway Stadium in April.
And the Aces will be without their top scorer from Monday, Zach Cook, who is required in Poland, whilst Jason Doyle is not ready to resume against his former club following his crash last weekend.
Cook’s absence is covered by the rider replacement facility whilst the visitors bring in Chris Harris to guest for Doyle.
Hurry said: “We need to sit down and work things out and have a chat with the boys. We’ve had a heavy defeat. We need to regroup, and get on with Thursday. But let it be a warning.
“I will be talking to a few of them. I don’t like to make a song and dance. They have tried their best, and you can see it in their riding. But there is just something missing. We just have to keep being confident and ride to the best of our ability at home and sort things out on the road.
“There are no excuses. They have had five home meetings now, so they should be up to full speed with the setup at Foxhall.”
Aces boss Mark Lemon said: “The team has really been growing, and on Monday night they did an exceptional job.
“You can see the confidence has been rubbing off on each other, and now we go down to Ipswich on Thursday and let’s see how we fare there.
“Obviously we don’t want to come back from Ipswich with our tails between our legs, we certainly want to put on a performance there and come away with something.”
