PREVIEW: BIRMINGHAM v LEICESTER (ROWE MOTOR OIL PREM)
BIRMINGHAM and Leicester clash in a big Midlands derby in the ROWE Motor Oil Premiership at Perry Barr tonight (Monday).
The Brummies are desperate to open their league account, but they face a Lions side who have regularly shown a liking for the Second City venue.
With Matej Zagar still unavailable for the home side they bring in Lewis Kerr as a reduced facility guest, whilst the Lions are unchanged from their win at Oxford last week – and they already have one big win at Birmingham on their results chart from earlier this season in the KO Cup.
Brummies boss Chris Adams said: “As I said previously, for me, with the riders they’ve got, Leicester are the hardest team to face around Birmingham because their riders have done a lot of laps around there and they like our track.
“But as always, we have to dig deep, the boys have to battle for every point and hopefully it will be a good meeting.”
Lions manager Stewart Dickson said: “I do normally say we’re going to an away meeting looking to keep it close for the aggregate point, but this time there’s no point kidding anyone on because we’re looking to see if we can get another win there.
“We do realise it won’t be as straightforward as last time, which was their first home meeting, but we’re also aware they haven’t ridden at home for three weeks, and when I’m a home team manager in that situation I am always concerned, so that might help us initially.
“With a full one-to-seven we’ll go there in confident mood, and I’m pretty sure we’ll have a good travelling support once again on the first bend.”
