PREVIEW: BELLE VUE v SHEFFIELD (ROWE MOTOR OIL PREM)

BELLE Vue aim to wrap up a perfect home record in the ROWE Motor Oil Premiership when they host Sheffield at the National Speedway Stadium tonight (Monday).

The Aces will top the table heading into the play-offs, but their semi-final opponents are yet to be confirmed, and their Roses rivals still need a point to make sure of qualification.

The Tigers hold a 47-43 advantage for the aggregate point and will also be in action at home to Northampton in a rearranged fixture on Wednesday.

Belle Vue are at full strength whilst Sheffield bring in former Aces rider Ben Cook at No.1 to guest for the injured Jack Holder.

Ahead of the meeting, Aces boss Mark Lemon has highlighted the value of consistency of team selection, with reserve Tate Zischke having played a vital role in their dramatic win at Ipswich last Thursday.

Lemon said: “Tate had a big injury in 2024 and it’s taken a long time for him to get his confidence back. We’ve kept faith in the guys and brought them back into the Aces camp, and they’re showing that faith is bearing fruit right now.

“We’ve been here before. In 2023, we were in the same position, top of the table, and then we lost Charles Wright on the eve of the play-offs, which duly knocked us out.

“Speedway’s a funny game, and we’ve just got to keep our heads and hopefully a bit of luck remains on our side.”

Tigers boss Simon Stead said: “It would be nice if we could go to Belle Vue and get something – that would take a bit of pressure off our final home meeting on Wednesday.

“We’d obviously love to go there and end their home run just before the play-offs, but they’re a team full of confidence around their home track and we know we’ll need to be at our very best.

“We know we’ve got a job to do collectively, and if all the lads can ride to their capabilities on the same night then there’s no reason why we can’t give them a real run for their money once again.”

BELLE VUE: Brady Kurtz, Norick Blodorn, Peter Kildemand, Zach Cook, Jason Doyle, Tate Zischke, William Cairns.
SHEFFIELD: Ben Cook, Anders Rowe, Chris Holder, Leon Flint, Josh Pickering, Jye Etheridge, Luke Killeen.
