PREVIEW: BELLE VUE v SHEFFIELD (ROWE MOTOR OIL PREM)

BELLE Vue and Sheffield take centre stage on Bank Holiday Monday with home and away clashes in the ROWE Motor Oil Premiership.

The action gets underway at the National Speedway Stadium at midday before switching to Owlerton for the return at 7.30pm.
The Aces have a 100 per cent league record so far this season but have been hit by last week’s injury to Dan Bewley, whilst Peter Kildemand (collarbone) and Norick Blodorn (GP qualifier in Germany) are also out.

Former Belle Vue rider Jaimon Lidsey guests for Bewley in the morning meeting with Niels-Kristian Iversen coming in tonight, whilst Kye Thomson and Justin Sedgmen also stand in against a full-strength Tigers side.

Aces boss Mark Lemon said: “We always knew we were going to be without two of our top five, but Dan’s injury has now made that three, and that obviously makes things all the more difficult.

“But we go into Monday with a 100 per cent record in the league and I’m expecting a really competitive, hard-fought day of racing.

“The first job is to make sure of a home win, and then it would be great to improve on our recent record at Sheffield in the evening.”

Sheffield manager Simon Stead said: “We say it every year but we know two meetings in one day can be demanding both rider and machine – but the lads are keen to build on that Ipswich meeting and add at least one more win to the board.

“It’s set to be a scorcher of a day, I know we’ll have a good band of travelling support in the afternoon, but let’s get Owlerton packed out as well and enjoy what should be a fantastic day of speedway.”
