LIONS TARGET FIRST LEG LEAD

LEICESTER captain Max Fricke says his side will be up for the challenge of building an advantage in the first leg of the ROWE Motor Oil Premiership Grand Final.

Fricke led the Lions to a dramatic semi-final success over Sheffield, and they now face Ipswich in the title decider next week.

The first leg is at the Hydroscand Arena, Beaumont Park on Monday (October 6), and Fricke knows it’s important to win that meeting ahead of the return at Foxhall 72 hours later.

He said: “It’s going to be tough. Ipswich have been a phenomenal team all year, and they’re very good on their home track.

“We are going to have to bring our ‘A’ game, but I think everyone is ready for it.

“We’ve been busy riding in other meetings, and we want to keep ourselves fresh and ready to go for the Final.

“Hopefully we can build a lead at home. You never know how it’s going to turn out, but hopefully the weather holds out for us and we’re looking forward to it.”
