FOXES MAKE THEIR POINT

KING’S Lynn and Northampton fought out a dramatic 45-45 draw at the Adrian Flux Arena as the ROWE Motor Oil Premiership newcomers secured their first league point on the road.

Former Stars favourites Niels-Kristian Iversen defied home No.1 Max Fricke throughout a tense Heat 15 to ensure the visitors would leave with some reward.

With ten race winners on the night the Foxes were a threat throughout, especially once they had wiped out an early four-point King’s Lynn advantage.

Fricke scored 12 for the hosts and Ben Cook reached 10+1, whilst Iversen’s 11 points were backed up by Jaimon Lidsey on 10 and skipper Nicolai Klindt (9) who won his first three rides.

Klindt said: “I would say it’s a small win. We’ve been so close so many times, yet so far, but we had a full one-to-seven today and we showed we are there or thereabouts.

“I think we should be proud of our efforts today, looking at the score from last week for King’s Lynn against Ipswich here (54-36), so we’re happy with the result but we’re still wanting more.

“Niels had a really, really good night after his first ride, I started off well, Jaimo was superb, solid all night, so it was a team effort for sure and (Matej) Zagar pulled out a win in Heat 12 which was very important.”

King’s Lynn manager Rob Lyon said: “It was the same as the last couple of times they were here, they were quite determined and dogged, and fair play to them for that.

“It’s disappointing if I’m honest, especially after Thursday when we had a good win, but it’s the same old story really. We just aren’t consistent enough.

“They have riders who know this place well and I guess in the end that came back to haunt us with Niels winning Heat 15.”
