FOXES FINISH WITH A WIN
NORTHAMPTON ended their debut ROWE Motor Oil Premiership campaign on a high with a 47-43 home win over King’s Lynn.
The result also saw the Foxes pick up their first aggregate point, as a fast start to the meeting proved to be too much for the Stars to overcome.
Northampton were 31-17 up after eight races before being reeled back in as Max Fricke (14) won four of the last five races for the visitors – but a win for Adam Ellis in Heat 14 sealed the victory for the hosts.
Rider of the Year Kye Thomson led the way for the Foxes with 13 points and guest Sam Masters added 10, whilst Chris Harris scored 10+2 for the Stars as back-up for Fricke.
Northampton manager Chris Adams said: “We did what we intended to do, and that was to start off good, get out of the gates quick and get some points on the board early on, and it was enough.
“Once again we had some ups and downs during the night, like we’ve had all year, but we stuck at it and stuck together as a team.
“It was good to get the result and to come away with a home win for our last one, and now we can look ahead to 2027.”
Stars boss Rob Lyon said: “It was a typical performance from us this season, but we made it respectable and ironically two 5-1s in Heats 14 and 15 would have seen a win.
“It was a better performance than what it was looking like earlier on in the meeting, but it was a typical example of how it’s gone, a couple firing and a couple not, and that’s racing.”
