LET’S GET SOCIAL!

PREMIERSHIP CEO Phil Morris wants to take advantage of a busy summer period as the race for the play-offs reaches a vital stage.

Seven fixtures are scheduled in the top-flight over the next eight days, starting tonight (Thursday), with meetings at Leicester and Sheffield.

Morris is asking for supporters to do their bit by providing record numbers of interactions and engagement on social media, as the sport looks to promote itself to a wider audience.

He said: “This is a week I’ve pinpointed for a while as we are in mid-summer and everyone is racing.

“It’s a big chance to get all the fans engaged and I’ve said all along we want them involved in our journey to hopefully a better place.

“We have all seven clubs racing at least once over the coming week, most of them two or three times, and this is the opportunity to really give things another big push.

“I’d ask all supporters to get on social media and wherever you see anything speedway related, re-post it, like it, share it, do whatever to get it out more widely.

“That’s also the case with Eurosport, who have a live meeting at Belle Vue on Monday. When they post races out on social media, let’s get 50 reposts of those races rather than five.

“There’s been a huge amount of work put into the social media at BSP level over the last year or so, and most of the clubs are also doing a great job and have really stepped things up.

“I really want to see the fans engage positively with this, and the numbers we get are all helpful in attracting further interest in the sport.

“I can’t stress enough what a role the fans can play, as every extra post or re-post is getting the message out to new people, and we could reach hundreds of thousands of potential supporters. The fans are massively important in what we’re trying to achieve.”
