WOLVES UP TO THIRD
WOLVERHAMPTON consolidated their place in the Premiership’s top four with a 53-37 win over Peterborough at Monmore.
Sam Masters scored a four-ride paid maximum (11+1) for the hosts, and Nick Morris carded 11 from five rides as Wolves moved up to third in the table, taking control of the meeting with 5-1s in Heats 3 and 4.
The Panthers battled on without their two injured riders, Michael Palm Toft and Scott Nicholls, with stand-in skipper Chris Harris reaching double figures with 11+2 from seven rides.
Wolves boss Peter Adams said: “There’s strength throughout this team.
“The reserves are beginning to chip in now, they got eight between them tonight – that was six or seven points that we weren’t getting at the beginning of the campaign.
“So the team is developing well, I’m pleased with them.”
Panthers manager Rob Lyon said: “We always knew it would be a tough one, coming with rider replacement and a guest is not ideal, but we were beaten by the better team on the night.
“It was a different, difficult track, it was slick and the inside was where you had to be as everyone saw, and fair play to Wolves – they were the better team on the night, and we have no complaints.”
