POSTPONED: SHEFFIELD v WOLVERHAMPTON (Prem)

THURSDAY’S Premiership fixture between Sheffield and Wolverhampton has been postponed due to a waterlogged track.

SHEFFIELD stage their first home fixture in five weeks tonight (Thursday) when they host Wolverhampton in the Premiership.

The two clubs agreed to add the Owlerton fixture and Monday’s return at Monmore to their league schedule with Wolves’ KO Cup quarter-final against Belle Vue having been delayed this week and the Tigers due to meet the winners.

Sheffield have won two of their three Premiership matches so far in 2023, whilst Wolves have suffered 49-41 defeats in both of their away fixtures.

The Tigers welcome back Tobiasz Musielak after a broken collarbone but Luke Becker is still sidelined for Wolves, and Ben Barker comes in to guest.

Sheffield owner Damien Bates said: “Wolves are a team who could strike on any given day. I saw them at Leicester last week and even though a few of the riders weren’t quite on it, they were still in contention for most of the meeting.

“It’s our first home fixture for over a month so it might take us a couple of races to get back into it.

“But if the Sheffield riders keep riding how they have been doing so far then there’s no reason why we can’t add another win.”

Wolves skipper Sam Masters said: “No matter who you are, when you haven’t ridden at home for a while it can always take you a few races to get the ball rolling again.

“So hopefully we can make some good starts and show some good speed and it would be nice if we could build up a bit of a lead in those first few races.”

SHEFFIELD: Jack Holder, David Bellego, Adam Ellis, Kyle Howarth, Tobiasz Musielak, Lewis Kerr, Dan Gilkes.
WOLVERHAMPTON: Sam Masters, Steve Worrall, Ben Barker, Ryan Douglas, Rory Schlein, Zach Cook, Leon Flint.
