PREVIEW: LEICESTER v WOLVERHAMPTON (Prem)
LEICESTER host Wolverhampton in the first Midlands derby of the Premiership campaign tonight (Thursday) at the Pidcock Motorcycles Arena, Beaumont Park.
The Lions lost out at champions Belle Vue on Bank Holiday Monday whilst Wolves’ positive start to the season continued with a home win over Peterborough.
In-form Scott Nicholls, who captained Leicester to the Championship title in 2019, continues as a guest for Wolves in place of the injured Luke Becker.
Lions boss Stewart Dickson said: “We need to respond from Monday’s meeting at Belle Vue, and we know we are going to get tested against Wolves.
“Nobody is going to present easy opposition in this league, but this is a particularly tough one when you look at the number of track specialists in the Wolves side.
“We need to be better collectively and cut out the mistakes and problems, and if we can do that then it’s a meeting we would expect to win.”
Wolves star Rory Schlein said: “We all ride Leicester well from our meetings there in the Championship,” he said.
“Dougy (Ryan Douglas) rode there for a few seasons as did Scotty, who is guesting for us again, and we’ve all been there as away riders at some point.
“It’s a track which is very technical, but we know the quickest way around, so we’ll be going there aiming to get something out of it.”
LEICESTER: Max Fricke, Justin Sedgmen, Richard Lawson, Chris Harris, Nick Morris, Jake Allen, Dan Thompson.
WOLVERHAMPTON: Sam Masters, Steve Worrall, Rory Schlein, Ryan Douglas, Scott Nicholls, Zach Cook, Leon Flint.
