PREVIEW: KING’S LYNN v SHEFFIELD (LC Final)

KING’S Lynn host Premiership runners-up Sheffield in the first leg of the League Cup Final at the Adrian Flux Arena tonight (Monday).

The Stars were in good form in their last home outing a month ago when they scored 63 points against Wolverhampton, and they are targeting a lead to take to Owlerton on Thursday – whilst the Tigers are looking to secure some silverware for 2022 after their Grand Final disappointment last week.

Both sides track a full one-to-seven with former Stars racer Lewis Kerr, who left the club in the summer, lining up for the Tigers with whom he has enjoyed a fine run of form.

King’s Lynn boss Alex Brady said: “It’s been a long while off the bike as a team, but the majority of the boys have been keeping busy so we can have no excuses of rustiness.

“Sheffield have done well here this season against us but I believe we’re a better team than we were on those nights, and we’ve been right in the mix away from home at Owlerton too, so I think this is one that could go either way.

“But if we do our jobs over the two legs to the best of our ability, I believe King’s Lynn will end up on the right side of the aggregate result.”

Sheffield manager Simon Stead said: “We’ve done ourselves proud this season. I’m proud of the lads and I hope the supporters are too.

“We’ve still got a Cup Final to look forward to and the lads thoroughly deserve it. But we know that King’s Lynn are going to prove to be a tough task both home and away. Let’s just hope that we can finish this season with some silverware.”

KING’S LYNN: Richard Lawson, Thomas Jorgensen, Richie Worrall, Josh Pickering, Nicolai Klindt, Frederik Jakobsen, Jason Edwards.
SHEFFIELD: Jack Holder, Lewis Kerr, Adam Ellis, Kyle Howarth, Tobiasz Musielak, Justin Sedgmen, Connor Mountain.
