PREVIEW: BELLE VUE v PETERBOROUGH (Prem Grand Final)
BELLE Vue face Peterborough in the first leg of the Premiership Grand Final at the National Speedway Stadium tonight (Monday). The Aces trailed the Panthers by 16 points in the regular league table but have only lost one of the four matches when the two sides met home and away.
Peterborough, who have secured a draw and a win on their two visits to Manchester, have Michael Palm Toft fit to race at No.1, whilst Lewis Kerr again guests for the injured Ulrich Ostergaard. The Aces continue to operate rider-replacement for Brady Kurtz.
Belle Vue boss Mark Lemon said: “There is still a job to do, and this will be the biggest job these boys have had to do all season against Peterborough.
“What is interesting is that earlier in the year, Rob Lyon [Panthers team manager] said to me that he believed he would see us in the Grand Final and we shook on that.
“We have had some brilliant results at their track, but we know the key is going to be how we perform at home. That is where we really need to go one better.”
BELLE VUE: Dan Bewley, Richie Worrall, Steve Worrall, Charles Wright, Brady Kurtz R/R, Tom Brennan, Jye Etheridge.
PETERBOROUGH: Michael Palm Toft, Lewis Kerr, Hans Andersen, Scott Nicholls, Chris Harris, Bjarne Pedersen, Jordan Palin.
Lyon said: “We go into every meeting looking to win. I’m not going to say we need to keep it close for the home leg on Thursday, we want to win every meeting.
“We’ve done well at Belle Vue on our two visits there this season, but equally they have done well at our place so it’s going to be a great Final.
“It’s massive for us to be in the Final and after the club went through a tough 2019 it’s great. I’m delighted to have got this far but we want to complete the job now.”
