PREVIEW: WORKINGTON v LEICESTER (NDL)
WORKINGTON look to bounce back from last weekend’s home defeat when they host reigning NDL champions Leicester today (Saturday).
The Comets were beaten by Mildenhall at Northside in a meeting which also saw Elliot Kelly crash out, leaving him on the sidelines with concussion.
However, he has now moved up into the top five meaning the rider replacement facility is available, with Harry McGurk dropping to reserve.
The Lion Cubs are still without Dan Thompson (concussion) and Vinnie Foord (wrist) so Adam Roynon and Kai Ward again come in to guest.
Workington boss James Denham said: “It was a shock to everyone on Saturday after the Mildenhall match, but the boys have never let their heads drop and are determined to bounce back.
“Harry has had a tough start to the season and will move into a reserve berth this weekend, but I’m sure he won’t be there for long as it’s just a matter of time before it clicks for Harry and we see what he’s capable of.”
Leicester manager Dave Howard said: “It’s very unfortunate that Vinnie will now be out for a period of time, and we wish him all the best for a speedy recovery.
“Naturally we’re still travelling to Workington looking for the win, or if not then we want to keep things as close as possible for the aggregate point as those are going to be so important in such a strong league this season.”
WORKINGTON: Connor Bailey, Elliot Kelly R/R, Sam McGurk, Luke Crang, Ace Pijper, Luke Harrison, Harry McGurk.
LEICESTER: Adam Roynon, Ashton Boughen, Max Perry, Tom Spencer, Joe Thompson, Kai Ward, Max James.
