PREVIEW: MILDENHALL v LEICESTER (NDL GRAND FINAL + KOC FINAL)

MILDENHALL stage a double header at West Row tonight (Thursday) with both major National Development League titles on the line.

The Fen Tigers host Leicester in the first leg of the league Grand Final, before the sides meet again in the second leg of the KO Cup Final with the Lion Cubs 26 points up from the first leg.

It will also be the final home match in charge for 80-year-old co-boss Malcolm Vasey, who stands down from regular management at the end of the season.

Vasey said: “It would be fantastic to finish my career on the ultimate high by winning the League once more with the Fen Tigers.”

Lion Cubs boss Dave Howard said: “We showed a liking for the Mildenhall track when we went there in the league and won, but obviously they have strengthened up now.

“The important thing for us in the Grand Final is to set ourselves up for the second leg at home, that’s the objective, and obviously in the Cup Final we want to consolidate our 26-point lead. The aim is to bring home that trophy.”

MILDENHALL: Jason Edwards, James Shanes R/R, Josh Warren, Alex Spooner, Jack Kingston, Ashton Boughen, Luke Muff. No.8: James Laker.
LEICESTER: Dan Thompson, Max Perry, Connor Coles, Tom Spencer, Joe Thompson, Vinnie Foord, Mickie Simpson. Stand-by: Max James.
