POSTPONED: LEICESTER v MILDENHALL (NDL KO CUP FINAL)

SATURDAY’S scheduled NDL KO Cup Final, 2nd leg match at the Pidcock Motorcycles Arena, Beaumont Park, between Leicester Lion Cubs and Mildenhall has been postponed because of track conditions. A new date will be announced in due course.

LEICESTER take an 11-point lead into the second leg of the NDL Knockout Cup Final as they host Mildenhall tonight (Saturday).

And the Lion Cubs, who won 49-38 at West Row last weekend, are boosted by the return of No.1 Dan Thompson after two months out with a shoulder injury.

The home side are without reserve Vinnie Foord due to concussion, with his place taken by Sam Woods, whilst Fen Tigers No.1 Alfie Bowtell is out for the same reason with Ben Morley coming in to guest. Andy Braithwaite replaces the injured William Richardson at reserve.

Leicester boss Dave Howard said: “It’s great news that we welcome back Dan, after (track curator) Andy Hill kindly arranged a practice session for him on Tuesday.

“We will be giving everything to win the Knockout Cup for the third time, but we know Mildenhall will be giving their all to challenge us as hard as they can.

“So we will have to be ‘on it’ as a team with everything we have got if we want to retain the Cup.”

Fen Tigers manager Jason Gardner said: “Ben has ridden 12 times as a guest for the Fen Tigers – more than any other rider in the club’s history – scoring a whopping 119 points.

“On the circuit in Leicester where he won his second Riders’ Championship title, we couldn’t have wished for a better or more reliable stand-in for Alfie.”

LEICESTER: Dan Thompson, Ashton Boughen, Max Perry, Tom Spencer, Joe Thompson, Sam Woods, Max James.
MILDENHALL: Ben Morley, Arran Butcher, Ben Trigger, George Congreve, Lee Complin, Andy Braithwaite, Sam Woolley.
