PREVIEW: LEICESTER v BELLE VUE (NDL)

LEICESTER and Belle Vue meet in the National Development League at the Paul Chapman & Sons Arena tonight (Saturday).

The Lion Cubs are the outgoing champions and are still defending an unbeaten home record since joining the league in 2019, although their last three matches on their own track have ended in 45-45 draws.

Cubs captain Joe Thompson said: “It’s been a good team to ride with, I think all the lads have learned a lot and being captain for these last few meetings has been great.

“I can’t thank the fans enough for their support, it’s been great having them behind us all year, and hopefully we can finish off with a win against Belle Vue.”

Colts co-boss Steve Williams said: “With the lads having not raced together for nearly seven weeks, it’s not ideal but I’m sure they will be champing at the bit when they get in the zone on Saturday.

“We’ve got a busy week to finish our season, and this will be a very stern test for the boys, a difficult fixture but certainly not one we are afraid of in any way. Our main goal is to win the meeting.”

LEICESTER: Dan Thompson, Ben Trigger, Tom Spencer, Joe Lawlor R/R, Joe Thompson, Kai Ward, Mickie Simpson.
BELLE VUE: Harry McGurk, Connor Coles, Jack Parkinson-Blackburn, Sam McGurk, Jack Smith, Sam Woolley, Paul Bowen.
