CUBS WIN AT ARMADALE

LEICESTER warmed up for the National Development League Grand Final with a 53-36 win at Armadale in their final regular fixture.

The Lion Cubs have completed the regular campaign five points clear at the top as they prepare for the title decider starting at Mildenhall on Sunday.

Connor Coles led the way in Scotland with 14 points from six rides, and reserve Vinnie Foord added 9+4, whilst Lee Complin scored 12 for the Devils.

Cubs boss Dave Howard said: “We were probably expected to win here, but the way they rode was superb. There were a number of passes from the back, it was really key to take the right lines around each bend and there were a fair few overtakes. It was a good performance, and a comfortable win.

“Vinnie was the busiest rider on the night and he had a great evening with paid-13, which is his best paid score of the season so far. It’s been great to see him in the last few weeks take that step up – he’s obviously got bigger and stronger, which assists him, and he rode really well tonight.”

Armadale manager Alan Budzynski said: “I’m extremely disappointed because the boys were very confident they could have done something. Our heat leaders had little backing from the second strings, and most importantly the Leicester boys were much quicker from the tapes.

“Lee Complin was his normal exciting self, never giving up, and I’d specially mention Owen Booth who got a couple of points on his first-ever National League appearance.”
