COLTS CHARGE TO VICTORY
BELLE Vue made it two home NDL wins out of two by defeating an injury-hit Oxford side 56-33 at the National Speedway Stadium.
The visitors suffered a huge double blow with skipper Jordan Jenkins ruled out on medical grounds following a fall at Ipswich on Thursday – and then high-scoring reserve Luke Killeen crashed in Heat 1 and was withdrawn with a wrist injury.
Colts star James Pearson kept up his great start at home with another 14+1 paid maximum, whilst both Sam Hagon and Jack Smith added 11-point scores. Henry Atkins racked up 14 points for the Chargers.
Pearson said: “On a personal level, you can’t not be happy with a paid 15-point maximum. It’s only my second meeting here so I’m delighted with that.
“Oxford had some really bad luck tonight; I don’t think things could’ve got any worse for them and we really did feel for them, but you can only race what’s in front of you.
“I think, as a team, we’ve been having a lot of fun with our racing and the results, especially at home, are coming naturally because of the atmosphere amongst the boys.”
