SECOND WIN FOR EAGLES
KENT Eagles made it two wins out of two in the National Development Trophy with a big finish to defeat Plymouth 54-36 at Iwade.
The home side were just two points ahead after Heat 11, but they finished the meeting with four successive 5-1s to run out comfortable victors in the end.
Nathan Ablitt scored 14 points from five rides for the Eagles with Ben Morley adding 12+2 and Vinnie Foord 11 from four, and Morley also broke the track record.
Centurions reserve Ryan Ingram scored ten from seven whilst No.1 Joe Thompson walked away from a heavy crash in Heat 15.
Eagles boss David Graveling said: “It was all very touch and go for the first half of the meeting and for a time we were wondering just when we might start to shake them off.
“All credit to Plymouth and (manager) Barry Bishop for the resistance they showed. We were delighted, however, at how the lads stepped up in the final few heats to clamp the meeting down. It has been a good day all round.”
