YOUNGSTERS CHASE SGP3 PLACES
GREAT Britain’s top three 250cc riders – Casper Kluczniak, Oli Bovingdon and Archie Rolph – all compete in this week’s SGP3 Qualifiers at the Pardubice track in the Czech Republic.
Semi-final 1 takes place today (Tuesday) with Kluczniak and Bovingdon taking part, whilst Rolph will be competing in semi-final 2 on Wednesday evening.
The three riders who finished last year’s British Youth Championship in the top three of the 250cc class have all been in good form this year with Kluczniak and Bovingdon moving up to the 500cc class in the UK, and Rolph – who continues riding the 250cc in this year’s series – currently leading with a maximum score.
All three Brits will be aiming for a top eight finish to enable them to qualify for the SGP3 Final which takes place at the Polish venue of Wroclaw on Friday night ahead of Saturday SGP at the same venue.
Rolph has a particularly tough draw with last year’s 250cc Europeans gold and silver medalists from Poland , Franciszek Szczyrba and Dawid Oscenda, in his semi.
13 nationalities take part across both semi-finals with riders participating from all over Europe as well as riders representing Australia, USA and Argentina.
The Young Lions would like to thank their British Youth sponsors Allied Vehicles, Nuneaton Speedway Supporters Club, Wessex Marine, Arnie Gibbons, Northern Scaffolding Solutions, Ignite Insurance Brokers, Rentruck, Friends of Speedway, HG Aerospace Engineering Ltd, Royle T Racing and SmartCo Consulting for their continued support which has enabled the British riders to be supplied with tyres for both the Semi and Final, and also contributed towards each rider’s travel.
