WOMEN’S OPEN AT LEICESTER
GREAT Britain will be represented by current FIM World Women’s No.5 Rachel Hellowell and No.7 Katie Gordon in today’s (Saturday) Women’s British Open Final at Leicester.
Both Hellowell and Gordon competed in the FIM Women’s Speedway Gold Trophy at the Teterow track in Germany back in June, where Germany’s Celina Liebmann was crowned the first ever Women’s World Speedway Champion.
Liebmann will be at Leicester today to defend her British Open title which she won in the inaugural staging last year.
And along with Liebmann, this year’s event has a real international flavour as Australia will also be represented by Teagan Pedler who arrived in the UK two weeks ago in time to attend the British Grand Prix at Cardiff.
A reminder that this event will start at 5pm, running alongside the British Youth Championship round.
Supporters are urged to arrive for around 4pm (gates open at 3.30pm) as there will be an autograph and photo session with all the female riders just inside the stadium entrance between 4pm and 4.30pm.
