THANKS FROM THE BEN FUND

SPEEDWAY Riders’ Benevolent Fund Chairman Paul Ackroyd paid tribute to all involved in a successful Bonanza staging at Oxford on Sunday.

The full schedule was completed despite inclement weather with rain during parts of the meeting, and the event attracted support from all over the country.

Ackroyd said: “The minute the riders put their helmets on, they gave it their all, and it was very evident that they wanted to go out and give the fans a really good meeting.

“We were delighted that Jamie (Courtney) and his management team volunteered the stadium – we’ve always wanted to come here, and from the minute Oxford re-opened a few years ago it was on my radar to persuade them to let us hold the event here.

“They have been amazing people to work with, so generous with their time, and the back-up they’ve supported us with is unbelievable.

“A big thank you to everyone for supporting the riders’ Ben Fund, because it’s the Fund that supports them.”
