SUNDAY PREVIEW: STEVE CASEY MEMORIAL, BUXTON

BELLE Vue CEO Mark Lemon has paid tribute to the club’s former Presentation Manager Steve Casey ahead of the Memorial Meeting at Buxton on Sunday (3pm).

A strong NDL line-up has been assembled for the meeting at the Hi-Edge Raceway, with a big cash incentive for the winner, in tribute to Casey who passed away in 2023 after extensive involvement at both clubs.

Lemon said: “Steve was such a likeable guy. He was synonymous around Belle Vue, but he was popular in all walks of life, and he dearly loved speedway and is dearly missed as well.

“It’s fantastic for this meeting to go ahead, and it should be a great day.

“All the funds that are raised will go to the Speedway Riders’ Benevolent Fund, which I know Steve was a big supporter of and he worked tirelessly behind the scenes to do everything he could for them.

“I’d urge everyone to support the meeting if they can, and we look forward to seeing everyone trackside at Buxton.”

Limited edition Steve Casey wrist lanyards will be available for £6 along with centre green experiences on the day for £3. Special programmes are priced at £3.
