SPECIAL DAY FOR JAY

WORKINGTON will once again pay tribute to supporter Jay Cartmell with a special Memorial Meeting on Saturday June 27 (3pm).

The young speedway and football fan tragically passed away in September 2024 aged just eight, and the inaugural staging of the four-team event featuring team names inspired by his favourite video game was a big success last year.

Jay’s mother Leigha said: “We are delighted to be hosting another memorial meeting for our beautiful boy Jay. I know he would have been extremely proud of last year’s event and what it became.  

“Our thanks must go to the promotion for accommodating the meeting within such a busy fixture schedule, and also a huge thank you to everyone who has already sponsored, donated and provided prizes so far — but we need more support to help make this year’s event even bigger and better.

“Last year showed just how much Jay meant to people and we’d love to see that support once again as we come together to celebrate his life doing something he loved.”
