SILVER SUCCESS FOR BRIT KIDS
GREAT Britain’s youngsters are celebrating runners-up position and silver medals in the European 250cc Pairs.
The GB team of William Cairns, Cooper Rushen and Seth Norman again secured a podium finish at the third and final round in Prague on Tuesday, finishing third on the night which was enough to secure second spot overall.
In an astonishing night of speedway at the Marketa Stadium the German team came from nowhere to not only win the meeting, but also claim the bronze medal for the series.
The British team worked hard all night in a tough event to find the right set-up, with Cairns in sensational form dropping his only points to the German team, and he ended up on a score of 18 points.
Rushen he struggled to get off the start all night and on a big slick track the starts were important; however, his eight-point tally included some very important minor places, with a 4-2 over the Polish team proving vital as both GB and Denmark tied on 26 points – but GB were awarded third on the night by having the greater number of heat advantages.
In the series Poland were clear winners on 28 points to take another gold, Great Britain were on 20 to take silver, and Germany beat Slovenia in a run-off for the bronze as both teams ended on 17.
