ROWE & HARRIS REACH GP CHALLENGE

GREAT Britain duo Anders Rowe and Chris Harris are both through to the FIM Grand Prix Challenge after negotiating a dramatic Qualifier in changeable weather conditions at Glasgow.

German racer Kai Huckenbeck stormed to a classy 15-point maximum to win the meeting, but Rowe was the surprise package with his impressive 12-point haul sending in through in third place after missing out to his Sheffield team-mate Jack Holder in a run-off.

Rowe said: “I came into the meeting with no expectations. I had a bad week. I just went out there with no pressure and have some fun, enjoy my racing again.”

Home favourite Harris, meanwhile, took things right down to the wire after three riders tied on 11 points with only two places available, and whilst Frederik Jakobsen won a tense run-off, Harris held on to second place to go through at the expense of Maciej Janowski.

Harris said: “I’m obviously over the moon. I made hard work of it in the end. 

“I started really well and lost points towards the end of the meeting. But it’s a nice feeling to get the last spot in the run-off.”

The qualifiers progress to the GP Challenge at Terenzano, Italy on July 25, where they will be joined by Robert Lambert who won his Qualifier earlier in the day in Zarnovica. Adam Ellis missed out at Glasgow on seven points.
